Microsoft vs. Adobe

I like what MS is doing with Metro (the "replacement" for acrobat). Many people don't realize, but pdf is an open document specification. Adobe, however, scrambles their document structure so much, its hard for anyone other than Adobe to decode it.

Microsoft's alternative is XML based, and they will provide api's to help developers include support in their applications. Hopefully the PDF, and acrobat will go away forever.

Imagine web browsers that utilize the metro api to render metro documents directly, without having to wait for a third party viewer (ie acrobat) to launch.
